I am currenlty working on two more contemporary sculpts, provisionally titled 'If We Weren't Slebs' and 'Victoria's Secret' - please stop by again soon, they might be finished, you never know!
My first offering on a contemporary theme was inspired by a headline in The London Paper concerning Boris Johnson's punishment plans for criminal teenagers. Being a typical Libran I felt torn between 'about time too' and feeling abject pity for demonised 'hoodies'. Then more people got stabbed this week - more lives wasted - 'about f****** time too' swallowed me whole.
So here's 'Robbing Hoody', robbing from anyone to keep (as opposed to Robin Hood, robbing from the rich to give to the poor). I wanted him to appear haunted by the hoody, to be surrounded by his ill-gotten gains, and alcohol, and the white line represents the thunder and lightening impact of drugs. On the other hand round the back of the sculpt is a plate of chips & the words 'I'm human' - well tucked away as I think these young peoples' humanity often is.
